Are you a designer? The Crazy Thread Story
The Crazy Thread

The story is this ... as a stay at home mom; I discovered the art of sewing at a new level. We needed curtains, we had no money. I made draperies first, swags and jabots second, and the rest as they say is history. I found that there was nothing like having custom window treatments and that absolutely everyone should have them! In 1993, I started operating my business word of mouth from my in-home workroom, AKA my laundry room, which measured approximately five feet by seven.

Some nights I would stay up late sewing to meet my turn around time, and on occasion would jump out of bed in the middle of the night, because I had figured out a pattern or some detail for a job that I was working on. Our children were 18 months apart and I would have them organize thread, count buttons and fold scraps of fabric just to keep them occupied so that I could hit a deadline! (I was famous for taking jobs, crying to my husband that I did not know how to do them, and then having to come up with the end results!) As the business grew, I had to farm out lots of work or stop doing laundry!

I absolutely love this business and believe that we all have tricks of the trade. Therefore, I welcome any feedback that you may have, which would help all of us be quick with information gathering so that we can get down to the important things. For the interior designer, the end results of your fabulous talent. For the workroom, time is money. For the seamstress, the cutting (I am one of the few who still loves this part of the job), the stitches, stitches and more stitches, and the final, WOW, I made this. And for all of our customers, a delivery date that makes them very happy, and us look very good, because we did it right the first time!
